Thika Family Seeks Help to Locate Form 2 Son Who Went Missing after Dispute Over KSh 4k

A family in Section 9, Thika, urgently seeks assistance locating their 16-year-old son who went missing on Tuesday, August 27.  Why did Vincent Mucheru go missing? Vincent Mucheru left home in the afternoon following a disagreement with his mother, Grace Muthoni, after she discovered he had made unauthorised transactions on her phone.  Mucheru's father, Peter Marika, told TUKO.co.ke that the Form Two student had been betting with his mother's phone, a behaviour he had never displayed before. When questioned, Mucheru admitted to using KSh 30 but was threatened with a report to his father. "He was using his mother's phone to place bets. It appears that when he was transferring money through M-Pesa, he wasn't receiving confirmation messages, so he kept making the transactions. The issue came to light when his mother noticed a significant reduction in her balance—nearly KSh 4,000—while purchasing credit. Unable to find any transaction messages, she requested a statement. I can't say for certain if he was angry or scared, but his mother did threaten to report him to me. However, she did not physically punish him," explained Marika. How did Vincent Mucheru go missing? At around 3pm that day, he left the house with his two-year-old sister whom he left in the compound before disappearing and has not been seen since. "After cleaning the house, he went out with his sister. We later discovered that he had left the baby in the compound before leaving. His mother didn't realise anything was wrong until 8pm when he still hadn't returned," Marika said. The family has filed a missing person report with the police, but no leads have emerged. Teachers from his school, Igikiro Boys High School in Kamahuha, Murang’a county, have also expressed concern after learning of his disappearance. Mucheru was described by his parents as an average performer and disciplined. When he left, he was wearing black trousers, a light green t-shirt, and crocs.
