A significant number of Kenyan investors have lost millions after being allegedly swindled by a Nairobi woman identified as Pascaline Peter, aka Passy Ma Trevor. It has now been days, and Passy is nowhere to be seen, which has led to a myriad of people on online platforms pleading with her to come back, address the issue, and return the money she took from them. The money is alleged to be about KSh 350 million, and the figure got tongues wagging online, with many saying that they saw it coming while others vehemently defended the businesswoman. A section of the people who have allegedly been swindled gathered in town to brainstorm on the way forward. "I know of a person who miscarried on the same day the case blew up," said a man from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) meeting place. "I am a student, so this money was supposed to be used for paying my next semester," lamented another member of the group. Passy Ma Trevor sends investors message on WhatsApp Passy got people into the investment scheme through friendship, and they also invited their close ones, such as pals and family members. Many were also drawn to the scheme through the lavish lifestyle she displayed on her social media platforms, which included her palatial home in Malaa, Machakos county. The first sign of trouble came when she posted a concerning post on her WhatsApp status before running for the hills. "Hello, I want to thank you for being a part of this money-lending business and growth. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, we regret to inform you that we are putting the business on hold, with a promise of reimbursement of the principal amount in bits. Apologies and much gratitude," wrote Passy. A group member also alleged that the Pafrim Investment Limited founder bought a seat worth KSh 400,000 and a bed, which cost KSh 500,000, and this made her see the kind of person she was dealing with. The matter is with the police, who have since taken up the investigations. Some members have also chosen to hire lawyers to handle the matter for them.
