Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has responded to opposition leader Raila Odinga’s decision to remove their iconic photo from his social media cover images. Raila's decision on Tuesday, August 27, could have been influenced by Karua’s announcement that she and the Narc Kenya party were leaving the Azimio la Umoja coalition. In a brief notice to Azimio La Umoja Secretary-General Junet Mohamed, the group cited "ongoing political developments" as the reason for its immediate withdrawal from the coalition. The party and others helped establish the coalition leading up to the 2022 presidential election, in which Karua was Raila's running mate. Another reason could be that Raila has shifted his focus to campaigning for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position. How did Karua respond? Karua, who was an Azimio co-principal before announcing her exit from the coalition, responded to Raila's move. She implied that she was fine with Raila's decision and welcomed it.
