KDF officers
|
A police officer at Kware, Embakasi South, has reported that while on patrol at Pipeline along Capital Express, his team arrested three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers. KDF officers are ready to patrol the streets ahead of a planned demonstration against the now-withdrawn tax bill that left over 20 dead in downtown Nairobi (Photo for illustration). How were KDF officers arrested? After reaching Cornerstone, he, alongside Duty NCO CPL Lewer and Crime Aide PC(W) Rufo, apprehended two additional suspects, handcuffed them, and placed them inside their police vehicle. As the team proceeded towards the station, an unknown person ran towards the vehicle, jumped inside, and reportedly violently attacked PC(W) Rufo by strangling her, according to a police report witnessed by TUKO.co.ke. During the struggle, the two previously handcuffed suspects also joined in. The intruder reached for PC(W) Rufo's firearm, leading to a discharge. The team drove directly to the station, where it was discovered that the individual who had attacked PC(W) Rufo had sustained a gunshot wound to the right thigh, while PC(W) Rufo had bruises on her neck, a torn sweater, and a torn blouse. The injured suspect was taken to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment. Who were the arrested KDF officers? Meanwhile, the two handcuffed suspects continued to be violent at the station and refused to identify themselves. They were eventually subdued, and upon being searched, it was revealed that they were KDF officers Amos Kipchumba Cheruiyot of Kenya Air Force and Stephen Muuo Sila of Kenya Army. They also presented the military ID of Evans Kipngetich, belonging to the suspect who sustained the gunshot injury. All arrested individuals have been placed in custody.
