The Kenya Airports Authority has dismissed reports of a blackout at JKIA during the Friday night power outage.

The authority dismissed social media reports of disruptions as misleading falsified and misleading.

It has also sought to assure the public of its commitment to ensuring smooth services.

KAA said the backup power systems and generators at the airport were activated promptly following the national grid outage.

This ensured that the airport maintained full electricity supply without any interruption to services or flight operations.

"We assure the public that JKIA remains fully operational, and passengers can expect seamless service throughout their travel experience," KAA said.

"The safety and security of our passengers are our top priorities, and we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards in airport operations."

In a notable improvement, services at the JKIA continued without any interruption Friday night during the nationwide blackout.

Unlike the previous outage when response times were delayed up to 30 minutes, the recovery was swift.

Kenya Power in an update on the blackout said electricity has since been restored to most parts of the country.

This is after most parts of the country were hit by a blackout Friday night.

Kenya Power in their second update on the matter said supply had been restored to the entire Western Region, as well as parts of Central Rift, South Nyanza and Nairobi.

"Restoration efforts to the rest of the country are ongoing," it said.

Kenya Power had confirmed power supply had been lost to various parts of the country except North Rift region and sections of Western region.
