Focus on Parliament as vetting of CS nominees begins

 

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula

Cabinet Secretaries nominees are set to appear before the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments to be vetted today (Thursday).

The Committee chaired by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula is expected to kick off vetting of President William Ruto’s picks to the Executive from Thursday to Sunday this week.

The Committee on Appointment chaired by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula will be deputized by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Gladys Boss and comprises of the following members; Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, Hon. Anthony Kimani, Hon. Owen Baya, Hon. Robert Mbui, Hon. Rahab Mukami, Hon. Dido Raso, Hon. George Murugara, Hon. David Gikaria, Hon. Ferdinand Wanyonyi, Hon. Mary Emaase, Hon. Rahim Dawood, Hon. Junet Mohammed, Hon. Caleb Amisi, Hon. Stephen Mule, Hon. Nelson Koech, Hon. Abdi Shurie, Hon. Naisula Lesuuda, Hon. David Pkosing and Hon. Mishi Mboko.

Interior CS nominee Kithure Kindiki and former Tharaka Nithi Senator will be the first among the CS nominees to defend his suitability to the same position he was appointed by the Head of State in 2022 before been dismissed barely a month ago.

Health nominee Debra Mlongo will be second to appear before the Committee on Appointments at 10:00 am while Lands CS nominee will appear at noon.

Former Education CS Ezekiel Machogu’s running mate in Kisii 2022 Gubernatorial Elections Julius Ogamba will be vetted from 3:00pm for the position of Education CS and later former Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya will face the Committee.

In a surprise change, President Ruto nominated Tuya to Defence in place of Aden Duale who was moved the Environment docket.
