Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has reacted to the ODM party's move to nominate him as the chair of the powerful Public Accounts Committee (PAC). On Wednesday, July 31, the Raila Odinga-led party proposed changes to the leadership in the National Assembly. Taking to his social media page, Amisi thanked Raila and the ODM leadership for settling on him as the chairman of PAC. The youthful lawmaker said his appointment was a testament to the former prime minister's confidence in him. Amisi pledged to uphold the values of transparency and accountability if will be elected to the position by the committee members. "This appointment is a testament to the confidence you have placed in me, and I assure you that I will carry out my duties with utmost dedication and integrity. I am committed to upholding the values of transparency and accountability as we work together to strengthen our nation's governance. Thank you for this incredible opportunity," Amisi said. He also thanked all Kenyans congratulating him on his new appointment, saying their messages inspired him. This came a week after the nomination of top ODM officials into the Cabinet. On Wednesday, July 31, the ODM Central Management Committee chaired by party leader Raila Odinga met, during which the resignation of the four leaders was received, and his replacement was named immediately. Suna East MP Junet Mohamed was proposed as the new minority leader, overseeing the opposition's business in the National Assembly. Proposed to take over PAC after John Mbadi was the Saboti MP, who Funyula MP Oundo Mudenyo would deputise. The foregoing nominations will be ratified in the Azimio La Umoja Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting.
