A sombre mood has enveloped a family following a tragic accident on Eldoret-Malaba Road in Lugari Constituency, which claimed the lives of five relatives.   The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, August 25, when a speeding oil tanker collided with a tractor before losing control and eventually crashing into the family’s Probox car.  Family of 5 killed in Lugari accident speaks Simon Koskei, the father-in-law of the deceased, shared that the family had gone to get the woman when the collision happened, as Citizen TV reported.  "My family was travelling to the bride-to-be's home to inform her family that we had their daughter. When they left, they were six, but upon reaching, they were given the bride and came up to here," said Koskei. "The oil tanker was speeding. After a few moments, we just heard a loud bang and upon checking, it had hit a trailer. We walked to the scene only to find five people lying dead," Edwin Masai, an eyewitness explained. Additionally, two individuals sustained injuries and were rushed to Eldoret Referral Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Lugari Sub-County Police Commander Julius Meli reported that the driver of the tractor and his passengers fled the scene after the accident.  “We have arrested the driver of the oil tanker and are pursuing the occupants of the tractor who are at large,” Meli said. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Webuye Sub-County Mortuary for identification and post-mortem examinations.
