Five people have been confirmed dead following a tragic accident along the Eldoret-Malaba Highway. Police in Lugaris said five people died on the spot after an oil tanker rammed into a Probo.What Lugari police boss said about Murugusi accident The Sunday, August 25, morning accident involved an oil tanker, a tractor, and a Probox in the Murugusi area. Lugari sub-county police commander Julius Meli confirmed that accident, saying two people survived the crash with serious injuries. Meli said the oil tanker, which was travelling at a high speed, hit a tractor carrying hardcore building materials before ramming into an incoming Probox vehicle. Who escaped after the Murugusi accident The oil tanker dragged the Probox for more than fifteen metres, and following the impact, five passengers in the Probox died on the spot. Two others suffered serious injuries after they managed to jump out of the vehicle and have been rushed to Eldoret Hospital. Meli said the driver of the oil tanker has been arrested, but the tractor driver and his passengers escaped after the accident. "We have arrested the driver of the oil tanker and are pursuing the occupants of the tractor who are at large," Meli said. The bodies have been taken to the Webuye sub-county mortuary, awaiting postmortem and identification. How many people died in the Salgaa accident The accident comes a few days after another horrible crash left 13 people dead along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway. The Tuesday, August 20, morning accident occurred at the Migaa area near Salgaa in Molo constituency after a tragic collision involving a Coast Bus and multiple other vehicles. Rift Valley Regional Police Commander Jasper Ombati said 55 sustained various injuries and are being treated at various hospitals in the area.
