2NK Driver Fired for Taking Rowdy Students to Police Ordered to Pay SACCO KSh 233k

John Muthoni previously worked with the 2NK Shuttle

A former driver at 2NK matatu sacco is risking a jail term after his former employer won a lawsuit against him. John Muthoni previously worked with the 2NK Shuttle. He was fired in 2021.  Why 2NK Sacco sued former employee John Muthoni was sued for allegedly defaming the PSV Sacco, which he accused of unfairly sacking him in 2021.  This was after the driver caught the attention of the country after he drove a group of rowdy students abusing substances to a Nyeri police station. The Chief Magistrates Court in Nyeri, where the case was being heard, found Muthoni guilty and ordered him to pay his former employer KSh 233,000 in cash. How 2NK Sacco went after sacked employee Muthoni told this writer that the sacco, even after sending him home, allegedly frustrated his efforts to get employment elsewhere, besides fixating him on the court corridors. He claimed the sacco's management vowed to trouble him throughout. They would allegedly catch up with him at his new workstations with blackmail, leading to his dismissal. He cited his stint at the Nyeri county government, where he had been employed as a driver in the fire department; the 2NK Sacco officials would allegedly show up at the department and pressure his dismissal until their efforts succeeded.  "There is a 2NK Sacco official from Karatina, Nyeri ... He said I would not have peace. They have been following me to every station I work to disrupt my employment. I worked in the Nyeri county government department where they used to come until I was fired," he claimed. What troubled 2NK driver wants from Kenyans Muthoni said he banked on a lawyer who initially helped him on a pro bono basis but later quit. The court gave him until October 23, 2024, to settle the plaintiff or be jailed on default. He called on Kenyans of goodwill to help raise the amount for him to evade the imminent imprisonment, a reality he said would affect his young family, which entirely depends on him. "I would like to ask Kenyans to help raise the money to escape jail. If I pay the amount, I will be able to seek proper employment without disturbance. I just want to get out of their radar. My number is 0703138291," said Muthoni. How John Muthoni got into trouble with 2NK As earlier hinted, the 34-year-old's woes began in November 2021 when he drove a group of rowdy students to a police station. He was ferrying students from Karatina, Nyeri county, to Nairobi after the schools closed. Midjourney, the students began abusing illegal substances, prompting the intervention of the driver. After failing to contain them, Muthoni drove to the nearby Sagana Police Station. Some of the students jumped from the vehicle while in motion after learning it was headed to the station. But the sacco took offence, saying one of its vehicles had been drawn at the centre of a nasty saga. The driver was summoned by his bosses, who seized his badge and fired him on the spot. Muthoni strived to argue his case, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. The bosses called him out for putting the sacco's name to disrepute.
