Kenyans React after Safaricom Temporarily Halts M-Pesa Services: “Gone Are the Days”

Scheduled Safaricom system maintenance has concluded successfully.  The leading telecommunications firm ran maintenance services that resulted in intermittency in M-Pesa Paybill, buy goods, Western Union, M-Pesa Global, M-Pesa and Safaricom App services. What Kenyans said about M-Pesa system maintenance The process that happened between Sunday, August 11, and Monday, August 12, from 11pm to 4am caught the attention of many customers, who shared mixed reactions.  Some reminded Safaricom to increase their internet speed and enhance services, while others criticised the move. John Musyoka urged: “Ensure network speed.” Jane Thoronja applauded: “Thanks for the surprises you are offering after buying minutes.” Mũnene M. David argued: “Hopefully it will end the history of reported numbers on my primary line.” Davis Mutuma said: “I hope after that, transaction history will be seen via the business app… I mean Till M-Pesa statement via the app.” Mugendi Dancan wrote: “Poor Services. I can’t even access Mali currently to withdraw. What if someone has an emergency? We will start using other money market platforms.” Mwangi Marion said: “Gone are the days when Safaricom was the best option, hope we had otherwise.” Blantie Inez asked: “What do you always maintain?” Fraser Makhanu Ron noted:  “Make sure you send me my birthday bundle Tomorrow right after you do your updates!” Kamau James asked: “What are you maintaining every week?? Asking with 100 others.” J Kirea M’Narangwi lamented: “You better close it completely. The ordeals that you have put me through are immense but I endure being your subscriber…” Safaricom postpones system maintenance This came after the telco postponed planned system maintenance in July 2024. Safaricom told TUKO.co.ke that the new date for the maintenance exercise would be communicated to customers. The telco rescheduled the maintenance exercise to allow customers to transact on a weekend it dubbed sport-packed, saying it listened to customers before making the decision.
