A sombre atmosphere enveloped Jalan Cheras following a tragic accident where two college students, both aged 22, lost their lives when their Ford Ranger was struck by a Mercedes Benz. . The incident happened along Jalan Cheras in Kuala, Lumpur. According to ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, Chief of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, the collision, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 10, left the students’ driver with minor injuries; he was promptly taken to the hospital. “As a result of the crash, two passengers in the Ford Ranger, both aged 22, died from severe injuries, while their friend, the driver of the vehicle, sustained only minor injuries,” he said as Malaymail reported. What caused Jalan Cheras accident? As per the police, the 23-year-old driver of the Mercedes was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He reportedly lost control of his vehicle, colliding with the students’ Ford Ranger and subsequently impacted five other vehicles travelling in the opposite direction. The deceased were transported to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for post-mortem examinations. Consequently, the police have arrested the Mercedes driver, and he is currently under investigation for the incident under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
