Activist Kasmuel McOure has been cast into the national limelight following his call for better governance during the youth-led anti-government protests. Activist Kasmuel McOure said a boda rider recognised his efforts. The young activist’s efforts in championing accountability in government have earned him admirers and foes in equal measure. In a post on Friday, August 9, Kasmuel recounted an encounter with a boda boda operator in Nairobi after a long day in the corridors of justice. . He revealed that the rider ferried him to his destination, and upon arrival, he refused to take pay for the service. Kasmuel said the presumably youthful boda boda operator intimated his admiration for his efforts at keeping the government in check. “A boda rider has refused to accept my payment for the ride. I’ve tried convincing him to take it, but he absolutely refused! He told me, ‘You’re doing a great job!’ After a whole day in court, that’s the most heartwarming thing that’s happened to me,” he revealed. How did Kasmuel evade arrest On Thursday, August 8, several businesses in the CBD shut down as demonstrators took to the streets, demanding better governance. Kasmuel, known for his prominent role in the anti-government protests, made a bold appearance in the streets, where he quickly became a target for anti-riot police. However, with quick reflexes, he managed to evade capture, leaping away from the officer’s grasp and fleeing to safety at the Nation Media house on Kimathi Street. Is Kasmuel eying for a political seat? A few days ago, Kasmuel announced his plan to enter politics and run for a political seat in the 2027 General Election. When asked which seat he would be vying for, Kasmuel said he would either seek a position in the legislative house or an executive role, either in Nairobi or at the national level. He stated that his active involvement in the protests was motivated by a desire to change the country’s government system.
