Several families have been thrown into mourning following a fatal accident along the N1 highway in Limpopo Province, South Africa. A bus belonging to Mzansi Express crashed on the N1 Highway. What caused the Limpopo bus accident? Sunday Times reported that the Wednesday, August 28, early morning accident involved a Mzansi bus travelling from Bulawayo to Johannesburg. Limpopo Transport and Community Safety Department said 10 people, including five men and five women, died on the spot. Preliminary investigations indicate the accident occurred when the bus allegedly drove over a traffic circle, causing it to overturn. "According to reports, the bus drove over a roundabout, the last traffic circle from Makhado toward Polokwane, at a high speed, lost control and overturned, killing and injuring its passengers in the process," the transport department said. According to the authorities, the bus driver was new on the job and was not familiar with the route he was using, which might have contributed to the accident. "The bus driver is reportedly new in his job and not familiar with the surroundings. The scene has been cleared, and the injured passengers have been taken to various hospitals in Makhado," they added as reported by Radio 786.
