A 30-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing assorted items from a shop by concealing them between her legs. According to Mwebantu, Ms Panda reportedly entered the hypermarket under the guise of purchasing goods.She allegedly placed some items into a shopping basket while discretely concealing others between her thighs. Upon reaching the checkout counter, Ms Panda left the shopping basket with items inside and pretended to answer a phone call, after which she proceeded to leave the store. However, the shop’s supervisor had been monitoring her movements through the store’s Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system.
When Ms Panda reached outside, the supervisor intercepted her and requested that she pay for the concealed items. When she refused, the supervisor escorted her to the store’s search room for investigations. A search revealed the stolen assorted items hidden between her thighs, valued at KSh 8,174. Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident. “A docket of the case has been opened, and the suspect has been detained for the offence of theft. All recovered items are kept as exhibits,” he said. Ms Panda is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
