Left frame shows Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Belgut’s Nelson Koech (in red tie). What is Julius Ogamba’s net worth? With over 30 years of an illustrious career in law, Ogamba said his wealth was primarily from his legal practice and real estate. “I also own tea farms, trees, vehicles and farm equipment,” he said after being prompted by the Speaker, Moses Wetang’ula. He is the nominee with the highest net worth of those vetted today. Interior nominee Kithure Kindiki (KSh 694 million) and Debra Mlongo for health (KSh 455.85 million), while Land’s docket nominee Alice Wahome said her worth was KSh 327 million. While appearing before the vetting committee, Ogamba faced a series of tough questions, among them, about how he would deal with the pending teacher’s strike and the university funding model, which had caused a lot of uproar. What are Julius Ogamba’s plans? If appointed, Ogamba said he would create TVET colleges in the country and designate a few to become centres of excellence and also encourage education tourism. “We have countries like Sudan and Congo that are not as advanced in technical studies as we are. That way, we can have students from other countries coming here to study. I have educated over 600 children. They have gone to various schools and universities. I come from a humble background. I have seen what education can do. I know that when you disadvantage a child, you have taken away their life,” he continued. Ogamba said he would ensure the fast construction of classrooms starting in October to deal with the infrastructure challenges facing students’ transition to junior secondary school. The nominee is, interestingly, the gubernatorial running mate for Ezekiel Machogu in the 2022 elections. Machogu lost the election to Simba Arati and was nominated to Cabinet by President William Ruto until the Cabinet was dissolved about a month ago.
