President Ruto accuses youths of using free internet provide by the govt to attack him

President William Ruto has accused the country’s youth of using the government-provided internet to attack him.  President William Ruto said the internet was supposed to provide opportunities to the Kenyan youth. What did Ruto say about Gen Z internet usage On Wednesday, July 31, President William Ruto explained that the government’s initiative to provide free Wi-Fi across Kenya was intended to help youth access employment opportunities and improve their lives. However, he noted that the youth are using the internet to attack him and other politicians under the pretext of exchanging greetings. “What’s going on now is that the internet is being used more kusalimiana, sometimes you know you become the architect of your own troubles,” he said. He sarcastically remarked that he and other politicians have received ‘encouraging’ messages from the youth, particularly during protests.  “When we delivered Wi-Fi across Kenya, we intended it to be used for good purposes. So people can access e-commerce space to work on the internet. But sometimes, it is used to send us encouraging messages, “Ruto added. The audience, who appeared familiar with the ‘kusalimiana’ trend among Kenyan youth online, burst into laughter.
