President William Ruto |
Ruto, however, stated that the situation in the country was entirely different, as the media was permitted to cover the protests without disruption and the internet remained accessible during that time. "Kenya is running full steam, and the internet is available everyday. People are talking from all over the place. Newspapers are writing whatever they want. The TV has four screens, they are showing what's happening in Kondele and everywhere. What further freedom should you ask from me?" The president said he had the capability to shut them down but chose not to because he believes in the rule of law.
