Mwangi Kiunjuri addresses claims his daughter started Moi Girls High School fire

politician Mwangi Kiunjuri

In 2017 a fire at Moi Girls High School claimed the lives of 10 girls.

Among the talks on the streets was that the daughter of politician Mwangi Kiunjuri was among the girls responsible for the arson.

Kiunjuru has through a statement on his socials denied the allegations insisting his daughter never studied in the said school.

"Let it be known to all the perpetrators of this reckless, intensive, and inhumane falsehood that I have never had a daughter or a relative at Moi Girls in Nairobi. The parents of the girl in question are known. If those pursuing this story care for the truth, let them visit the school and get all the facts," he stated.

Kiunjui emphasized with the parents who lost their kids saying

. "My heart goes out to parents who lost their children in this unfortunate incident and whose scars continue to be opened afresh each time in the name of people politicking. This is too low even to score political points. Humanity and morality should have considered their pain but this too has failed," Kiunjuri added.

A teenager identified as T.W.G was found guilty of the tragic incident, and sentenced to five years in prison.
