KMPDU Dismisses Claims Health CS Nominee Deborah Mlongo Was Deregistered as Doctor

President William Ruto's Cabinet 11 nominees have come under public scrutiny following their announcement. KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atellah clarified that Health CS nominee Deborah Mlongo had delayed updating her licence and was not deregistered.  A few minutes after her nomination, Health Cabinet Secretary nominee Deborah Mlongo Barasa's details were splashed on social media.  The details revealed that Mlongo was missing from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists' Council (KMPDC) list. However, in a quick retort, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists' Union (KMPDU) clarified why her name was not on the list. In a statement on Friday, July 19, KMPDU Secretary-General Davji Atellah stated that she had not been registered but only delayed in updating her accreditation. "Not deregistered she just delayed to update her license," he wrote. How did KMPDU react to Mlongo's nomination The doctors' union also congratulated the medical practitioner on her nomination, stating they are willing to support her to restore dignity in the profession and the quality of healthcare in the country. Atellah stated that Mlongo's background would be integral in enabling her to discharge her duties without issue.  "We warmly welcome her to the dutiful responsibility of ensuring quality healthcare systems for all Kenyans, including decent work for all health workers. Being a young medical doctor and specialist physician, we believe she will quickly settle to the enormous task of correcting the disputes around internship and the constitutionality of social health authority," he said.
