Former CJ Maraga hails Rwanda’s presidential election as exemplary

Former Chief Justice David Maraga has lauded the conduct of Rwanda’s recent presidential election, describing the process as exemplary.

Speaking in Kigali, where he served as the Head of the East Africa Community (EAC) Election Observation Mission, Maraga praised the election for its peaceful and organized nature.

“The electoral process was exceptionally orderly and peaceful. It stands out as one of the best I have witnessed,” Maraga remarked to local journalists.

His assessment was based on detailed reports from various polling stations, where he noted a complete lack of disruptions or commotions.

“Our report highlights the superb organization of the election. Unlike in some places where elections can be chaotic and noisy, here it was the opposite. My team reported that all polling stations were calm and orderly,” Maraga added.

Maraga led a team of 55 officials from EAC Partner States and the East African Legislative Assembly, who were deployed across Rwanda’s 30 districts and the City of Kigali to monitor the final stages of the election.

In related news, President William Ruto congratulated Paul Kagame on his re-election as President of Rwanda.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Kenya, I extend warmest congratulations on your re-election as President of the Republic of Rwanda,” Ruto stated.

Ruto expressed his best wishes for Kagame’s new term and voiced confidence in Rwanda’s continued progress under his leadership.

“We celebrate the choice of the Rwandan people and wish you success as you steer your country towards peace, stability, and prosperity,” he said.

He also emphasized Kenya’s commitment to maintaining close ties with Rwanda. “I look forward to continuing our collaboration in regional and Pan-African affairs, strengthening the bonds of solidarity and fraternity between our nations,” Ruto affirmed.
