Cooperative Bank teller charged with stealing Ksh 2.5M

 

A teller at coop bank arrested after stealing from the bank

A teller at the Cooperative Bank appeared at the Milimani Law Courts Thursday, facing charges of stealing Ksh 2.5 million from the financial institution.

Prosecution Counsel Judy Koech informed the court that the accused, Joseph Musembi Mutuku, allegedly committed the theft between May 1, 2022, and December 30, 2023, while employed at the Cooperative Bank of Kenya’s Maasai Mall Branch in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.

Mutuku pleaded not guilty to the charges before Principal Magistrate Hon. Gilbert Shikwe.

Hon. Shikwe directed that the accused be released on a bond of Ksh 500,000 with two sureties of a similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Ksh 300,000, along with two contact persons.

The case is scheduled for mention on July 25, 2024.
