Nairobi: ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s famous supporter Omosh Jakababa has strongly supported his move to work with the Kenya Kwanza government. Raila Odinga’s supporter Omosh backs alliance with Kenya Kwanza government. This was after President William Ruto nominated Raila’s key allies, John Mbadi, Wycliffe Oparanya, Ali Hassan Joho and Opiyo Wandayi, to his Cabinet. Mbadi was named the National Treasury Cabinet secretary, while Wandayi was given the Energy and Petroleum docket. It should be noted that while most Kenyans criticised the ODM leader for allowing his allies to join the government, his staunch supporters, like Omosh, endorsed it. How did Omosh Jakababa react to ODM inclusion in Cabinet? Speaking at Jacaranda Grounds during the Bunge la Wananchi debate, Omosh, Ruto’s greatest critic, said the president had been cleansed. Omosh vowed never to participate in anti-government protests, as he was contented with ODM party members being in the Cabinet. He declared his readiness to support whoever Raila endorsed. “There will be no protests from today on. We don’t want it. Ruto is now as clean as cotton; that is the truth. We didn’t love Ruto, but Raila has decided to work with him. If Raila likes something, we also like it. Some people argue that Raila is only good when he participates in protests, but when he joins the government, he is bad. We are now in the government,” Omosh said. Why Orengo opposed Ruto-Raila deal Earlier, Siaya governor James Orengo continued to oppose the deal between the ODM leader and the president. Earlier reports indicated Ruto had offered five Cabinet positions to the former prime minister’s party. However, in a statement on Tuesday, July 23, Orengo criticised ODM leaders positioning themselves for Cabinet appointments. According to Orengo, opposition leaders accepting Cabinet appointments betrays the principles of the Constitution.
