A photo of receipt from a hotel |
A photo of a receipt from a local establishment has sparked sharp reactions among Kenyans over the cost of the food.
Many had a lot to say after Deejay Smiles shared it, highlighting the price of the meal. He did not indicate if he was the person who spent that much.
The bill, paid through M-Pesa, included tea, coffee, and samosas. Many are comparing the cost at that restaurant to what is charged elsewhere in Nairobi.
The receipt shows one beef samosa costs KSh 1,750, and the individual ordered two samosas for a total of KSh 3,500. Other items on the menu included:
- 1 Black Coffee: KSh 500
- 1 Tea with milk: KSh 500
- 1 Masala tea: KSh 500
While some Kenyans were bemused, noting that the cost matched what they spend on rent or school fees, others were outraged.
One Kenyan commented, “Martin K. Mosop… Yani rent yangu ndio inakuliwa kama side order snacks.”
Here are more comments from Kenyans exclaiming loudly:
- Caleb Senior: Kwani hii chai inapikwa na maji ya uzima?
