Turkana South Member of Parliament John Ariko Namoit has strongly denounced the recent attack on the residence of one of his supporters. Onlookers and security officers at Ekal Nabuin's home during Saturday, June 15 raid. Ekal Nabuin Bornfestus reportedly had his home raided by armed officers from the Lodwar DCI unit and other state security personnel on Saturday, June 15. What did Bornfestus allegedly lose to security personnel? In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, a reliable source from the constituency revealed that the attackers stole KSh 450,000, a laptop, portable Wi-Fi, and other items of undisclosed value from the premises."The RDU made away with goods and valuables of unknown value. They also invaded the said shop and made away with KSh 450k, laptop, portable Wi-Fi, and personal clothes," he alleged. Why was John Ariko's supporter's home raided? He attributed the incident to political differences between the MP and the top leadership and emphasised that it has significantly heightened tensions within the community. He criticised the Rapid Deployment Unit for reportedly targeting and harassing youth while failing to promptly address security issues in the region. "We condemn this kind of act which many people believe is a political witch-hunt. Bonny is a very small person from a humble background in our community championing community issues, and a youth leader we fail to understand as a community what the young man has done to deserve such frustration and intimidation from the contingent of RDU.  Based on our knowledge of understanding, we are convinced that this action is politically motivated; we are asking the politicians behind this to accord our people respect and refrain from such political wars. If you have issues with John Ariko Namoit kindly face him in person and sort out your issues with him," he warned. Ariko urged security forces not to be manipulated by politicians to suppress opponents, commit unjust acts, or violate rights.
