In a significant move towards securing the financial future of Kenya’s public servants, the Public Service Superannuation Scheme (PSSF) Strategic Plan 2023-2027 was unveiled on Friday ahead of the Annual General Meeting held at the Kenya School of Government.

Chief of Staff & Head of Public Service Felix Koskei commenced the ceremony with a resolute proclamation: “Today marks a pivotal moment in our journey towards securing the financial future of our public servants. The PSSF Strategic Plan 2023-2027 charts a course towards sustainable growth and prosperity for our members.”

Koskei further emphasized the imperative of integrity within the PSSF institution: “Corruption has no place within the PSSF institution. The board of trustees must ensure that all affairs are conducted with integrity. Let us live within our means and uphold the trust bestowed upon us by our members.”

Addressing the commitment to member-centric service, Koskei stated, “Let us prioritize being customer, member, and citizen-centric. Members should know they are our ultimate authority. We will serve them with utmost diligence.”

He also urged leaders to transcend political interests, stating, “I urge the leadership to detach themselves from political and selfish interests. Let us make decisions, especially regarding investments, that are in the best interest of the membership.”

Highlighting the significance of pensions, Koskei emphasized, “Pensions ensure retirees receive a stable income post-retirement. The establishment of such schemes bolsters Kenya’s position by encouraging savings in the capital market and property development.”

Echoing the commitment to support the scheme, Koskei affirmed, “As a government, we are dedicated to supporting the scheme by ensuring timely remittances and enhancing its effectiveness and reach.”

Dr. Chris Kiptoo, representing the National Treasury, underscored the strategic importance of the plan, stating, “The strategic plan being launched ensures that the Public Sector Superannuation Scheme (PSSS) safeguards public servants. A well-planned journey leads to a well-secured future for all members.”

Ag PSSS Chair Agnes Mwenda, on her part, outlined the objectives and purpose of the PSSF, stressing the commitment to providing effective pension schemes for members.

CEO PSSS Dr Jonah Aiyabei, in conclusion, reiterated the vital role of the PSSF in contributing to the economy, emphasizing members’ contributions towards the fund.

The PSSF Strategic Plan 2023-2027 launch signifies a significant step towards ensuring the financial security and well-being of Kenya’s public servants, aligning with the government’s vision for economic development and prosperity.
