Njambi Koikai's uncle recalls picking her at Pumwani He remembered picking her and her mum from the Pumwani Hospital after her birth and the way she respected him. At some point, he broke down, noting how Njambi's death was a big blow to him because of how they loved each other. In his words: "When Njambi was born, I was a very young man, and what's surprising is that I was the one who went to pick her and her mum up at Pumwani Hospital. I was so happy. Since then, we have been together. I was her teacher since she was a young kid. Privately I have nurtured her. She never called me uncle but baba." Njambi's last words to her uncle before death Joseph also revealed that she was with Njambi the day she died, and he recalled seeing her wave at him as she was being moved to the Intensive care unit (ICU).  "The saddest part is that when Njambi closed her eyes for the last time, I was with her. It was very sad. But I thank God for the years He gave us with Njambi. She respected me. Every time I went to their home, I never used a matatu. She would secretly order an Uber for me. If there is anyone who has lost, it's me who has lost Njambi. When she was going to the ICU, she waved and said baba bye," he added. Joseph also thanked the doctors who took care of Njambi tirelessly until she breathed her last, and he asked God to bless them.
