The Kenyatta National Hospital
A young pupil succumbed to injuries in Nairobi's Imara Daima area after being involved in an accident on Wednesday, June 12. The pupil died while being rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital. The youngster was returning from school when her attempt to cross the road filled up by a heavy truck ended tragically. How Nairobi pupil met tragic death Eyewitnesses say her bag got stuck on one of the truck's sideway levers, pulling her into the underside. She hit the heavy vehicle in the process, sustaining severe injuries at the scene of the accident. Police were captured controlling a crowd that had started growing around the scene. The pupil, a learner at Mukuru Promotion Centre (MPC) school, was rushed to the Scion Hospital but could not get medical help. She was confirmed dead at the Kenyatta National Hospital, where she had been rushed to. Dennis Beru, a journalist at Ruben FM, told TUKO.co.ke that the pupil was badly injured in the arm and head. He added that this was the sixth accident in the exact spot. "She was standing on the side waiting for the truck to pass when a sideway level held her bag and pulled her to the heavy vehicle. She was rushed to Scion Hospital, where the medics found her situation complicated, sending her to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was confirmed dead/ The road is too small to accomodate even a 40-foot trailer. Zebra Crossing markigs have now been done on the road possible to avert such accidents," said Beru. Video; Residents held demonstrations, calling on the authorities in the city to sanction the relocation of a company owning the truck. According to them, the trucks ferrying goods from the said firm had caused similar accidents due to the difficulty in negotiating the corners in the locality. Woman, child cheat death in truck accident The accident happened months after another on the outskirts of the city in which a woman and her child cheated death after a truck fell on the vehicle they were in. Their vehicle was utterly crushed by a heavy-duty trailer at Benedicta, Utawala, along the Eastern bypass. The trailer was making a U-turn while the lady was returning to pick up her children from school after closing day. Luckily, the lady and her children have come out alive from the traumatising ordeal with minor injuries.
