Kisii Girl Who Went to Jordan to Search for Job Goes Missing, Remains Mute for 10 Years

 

A family  seeks help to find their daughter
A family in Kisii is in distress after their daughter, who travelled to Jordan to look for greener pastures, remains silent for 10 years. Veronica Kemunto's mother (l) is seeking help from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to locate her daughter, who has been missing in Jordan for 10 years.  According to the family, Veronica Kemunto left the country on September 5, 2014, and has not communicated with the family since then. Kemunto's mother said her daughter communicated with the family during the first three months during which she complained of being sick. She informed her family that her employer had indicated the she would pay her at the end of the contract. . "We asked her three months after traveling why she had not communicated back home; she said she was sick and was unable to work. She said that her employer said she would be paid after her contract was done," Kemunto's mother said. When Kemunto left the country an agency based in Nairobi when she was 20-years-old. Her young brother, who is currently in college, was in class six. Kemunto's brother said their parents' health has been deteriorating ever since the whereabouts of their daughter have remained unknown for a decade.  Family pleas to the government He said she only wants to hear from her sister, and pleaded with the government to help them trace the whereabouts of their sister. "My sister traveled to Jordan when I was in class six, and I'm still in college, and we have not heard from her. Her silence has stressed out our parents, and now their health condition is worse. I'm asking our government to help us track her whereabouts," he said. According to Kemunto's mother, efforts to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for help have been in vain, as formal communication has yet to be given on the progress of the search. "We went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but we were not given a note or a communication showing that they will follow up on my daughter's case," the mother lamented.
