Kenyans question identity of unmarked car and masked gunmen in CBD

Suspicious  unmarked car raises eyebrows

The presence of a Red Pickup Truck and two masked men wielding guns on Thursday, June 27 in Nairobi's CBD elicited concern.

The unmarked vehicle was spotted along Moi Avenue where youth had converged in the Reject Finance Bill protests.

Thursday was part of events dubbed as 7 Days of rage.

This was as the military was also deployed to aid the police in the city as well as around the State House over plans to invade it.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua pleaded Wednesday with the youth to call off Thursday protests.

A picture of the vehicle was shared by CNN photographer FestOlang, as Kenyans reposted the images with demands for answers over their identity.

Africa Correspondent Larry Madow shared the same asking Kenyans "Unmarked car, no uniform, hidden identity, but armed. Who are they?  @festolang"

Two men wearing masks at some point stood atop the vehicle with weapons that also created outrage.

The men whore clothes that were unmarked as well, as they told under the comments section of Madowo's Twitter account.

Here are some comments:

@shakiaustin wrote "Against a Gen Z with just a smartphone, flag and a waterbottle"

@BrimaWontMiss wrote "They are special forces retired commandos with green beret vests hired to kill peaceful protestors termed as treasonous criminals"

@Fay254 wrote "Those sharp eyes dont belong to Kenyan forces

@alexis_cyn asked "And why are they covering their faces ama hawa ndo snipers"
