Ian Njoroge's Mother Dismisses Claims He Was Arrested at Girlfriend's House

Ian Njoroge presented before court
The mother of Ian Njoroge, the 19-year-old boy captured on camera allegedly assaulting a traffic officer, has criticised Kenyans for spreading false reports about the incident. Ian Njoroge was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer. Speaking to Standard Digital, Ruth Nyambura Mbaraga dismissed reports that Ian was arrested at his girlfriend's house moments after assaulting the police officer. While acknowledging that Ian erred in assaulting the police officer, she also shut down reports in some sections of the media regarding his arrest. How did the police arrest Ian Njoroge? Ruth said she was hurt after seeing his firstborn son trend in a negative way moments after he was filmed assaulting a police officer. “I’m speaking as a mother who has been hurting because of seeing how the boy has trended in a negative way," Ruth said. The heartbroken mother slammed bloggers for allegedly spreading false reports regarding her son's arrest. She disclosed that Ian was arrested at her house by a group of flying squad officers and not at his girlfriend's place, as it was initially reported on social media. "Kenyans, please, it is very wrong to say things that you do not know. How can you say he was arrested at his girlfriend's house? Am I his girlfriend? Kenyans, stop blogging about what you do not know. It is good to get down to the truth and say the truth. Today, it is me; tomorrow, it will be your son," she stated.
