This partnership allows students to receive their HELB loan funds directly into their M-Pesa accounts, providing greater ease and efficiency in accessing and utilizing the funds. M-Pesa enables HELB to release funds for specific expenditures only. Allocations such as tuition, library fees, and accommodation will only be accessible through the pay bill accounts for respective universities or TVET institutions. HELB will transfer students' upkeep allowance to their M-PESA wallet for everyday use. Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced that the government released a second batch of Ksh.14.4 billion for scholarships and loans to first-year students in public universities. The funds would benefit the 2023/2024 continuing students in their second semester of study. How to check your HELB portal disbursement status? The HELB student portal allows you to check the disbursement status of your loan. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to check HELB disbursement. You can view your disbursement status either through the HELB portal or mobile application: HELB app or web portal: Log in to your HELB account through their app or the HELB student portal on their website. This will enable you to withdraw the funds from the HELB Mini app. Download the M-Pesa app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Enter your account number, which is your National ID Number. Enter the amount you wish to pay. Enter your M-Pesa PIN to authorize the transaction. Check the details you have entered and confirm the payment. You will receive a confirmation message from M-Pesa and HELB confirming that the payment has been received.  HELB is responsible for the recovery of loans disbursed to students.
