Daniel Koikai: 5 Interesting Facts About Njambi's Father

The family of Mary Njambi, popularly known as Fayah Mummah Jahmby Koikai, is mourning the death of her father. Njambi Koikai's father said he regrets failing her.  What killed Njambi Koikai's father? Daniel Koikai died on June 14, during his daughter's burial. He passed away just a day after a moving tribute to his fallen daughter. The body of Daniel was discovered in his house.  Well, TUKO.co.ke has compiled five things you should should know about Njambi. 1. What jobs did Daniel Koikai do? He was a diplomat. Ambassador Daniel Koikai was once Kenya's ambassador to Nigeria before he was replaced by Francis Sigei in 2009. Daniel served in the government for several years, and he revealed that when his daughter was born in 1986, he was working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was then assigned a position that required him to leave the country only to return when his daughter was in Form One. 2. Daniel Koikai was remorseful His tribute apologising to his daughter, Njambi, went viral, eliciting mixed reactions. Addressing mourners at his daughter's memorial mass held at the Nairobi Chapel along Ngong Road, Daniel admitted to being an absent father. In his tribute, the doting father talked about their strained relationship and apologised for failing her. "You were about four months old; that was my first encounter with you as a child. Our encounter was short-lived, and we never saw each other. After that, I was posted out of the country. All the time I was away, your mum and family cared for you," he shared. In his tribute, which was read by Njambi's uncle, Daniel narrated how he met Njambi's mother, Stella Wambui, while they were still living in Riruta, Satelite, Nairobi county, dating and when she was conceived. "At that time, I was working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She visited me at the office to inform me of the pregnancy, and later, after she gave birth to you on January 24, 1986, she came back to see me," he narrated.  Njambi was raised by her grandmother, who passed away a few years ago, and she was laid to rest on June 14, next to her resting place. Despite being absent from his daughter's life because of the nature of his job, Daniel contributed a lot to her life. Apart from taking her to the best schools in Kenya, Makini, Arya, Ngara Girls, Daystar University and USIU, he helped her get a job at KBC. Daniel also secured an internship at the US embassy in Nairobi for his daughter and even paid for her to learn French, which she was fluent in. 5. Daniel Koikai, the loving father The dotting father had reconnected with his daughter recently before she breathed her last. Daniel shared the last message his daughter sent him, leaving Kenyans in tears. "Hi Dad, I hope you got home safely. I need red berry orange water from Del Monte, fresh orange, and passion fruit juice. The doctors are here, so I’ll have to go. We’ll talk tomorrow. It was good to see you and reconnect," read the message.
