Rachel and Tony Ssenkebejje are finally husband and wife, legally, after over 50 years together. Businessman Marries Lover After Cohabiting for 50 Years, Siring 4 Kids With Her Daily Monitor reports that the duo recently said "I do" in a ceremony that cemented their undying love for each other. Tony Ssenkebejje first met his now-wife at Silver Springs Hotel in 1974, after which their love blossomed quickly. "I was performing with the Cranes Band and Rachael had come with her family to attend the show," he said in an earlier interview.  Impressed by Tony's singing skills, Rachel always wanted to listen to him sing, so she started attending the Cranes Band shows. Tony and Rachael began dating, then relocated to Kenya, where Tony played in several bands. Rachael started singing in 1982. Due to their love for music, they founded the Simba Sounds Band, with Rachael as the songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and dancer. Over the decades, they built not only a family but also a successful business empire, standing as a testament to their enduring partnership. After living together for half a century, the couple have been blessed with four children. Despite societal norms and pressures, the couple prioritised their personal happiness and family over a formal marriage. Their decision to finally marry after 50 years of cohabitation was driven by a desire to formalize their union and celebrate their lifelong commitment. The wedding ceremony celebrated love and dedication, attended by their children, who have been a central part of their journey. The newlyweds plan to continue cherishing their shared memories and looking forward to many more years of happiness together. Who are the Senkebejjes? The lovers have been making music for 58 and 45 years, respectively. One of their children, Glean Sewanyana, sings with them. After years of living in Kenya, they returned to Uganda in 1990 and joined Afrigo Band but quit just after three years. They teamed up with another singing couple, the late Sam Murungi and his wife Florence Asiimwe, to form Simba Ngoma Band. The Senkebejjes soon split from Simba Ngoma and formed their own entity; Simba Sounds Band.
