Baringo Family Discovers Daughter Who Went to Work in Saudi Died in October 2022: "Tumejua Juzi"

Family finds out daughter died back in 2022
A family from Baringo County has been left in utter devastation and sorrow after discovering that their daughter, who went to Saudi two years ago, died just a few months after arrival. The Baringo woman died under mysterious circumstances in Saudi. Eunice Achieng travelled to the Middle Eastern country in Junee 2022 for what she thought would be an exciting opportunity to earn an income and improve her life and that of her family. However, her family recently learnt that Eunice died under mysterious circumstances in October of the same year, which brought to an end their apprehension for their daughter's safety. The deceased's mother told TUKO.co.ke that the last time the family spoke to Eunice was in August 2022, and she distressfully told them that her life was in danger. "She had not even earned her first salary when she called us that day, as she was still new in Saudi. She told us that she had to run away as she was fearing for her life. We were informed that when she ran away, she was taken away by four Swahili-speaking women, claiming that they had come to her rescue, and since then, her whereabouts remained unknown," she told this writer. Since then, the family held onto hope that they would hear from the young woman one day, but their hopes subsided as days turned into weeks and weeks into months.  "It is only recently that someone claiming to be working for the immigration called us and informed us that our daughter died in March 2024. However, with the help of Nelson Mithamo Muriuki, a Kenyan Diaspora Human Rights Activist based in the USA, we established that she died in October 2022," the distraught mother said. The family is now facing a huge conundrum in raising the money needed to repatriate her body from Saudi and also finding out how Eunice died. "We are yet to understand how she died as we do not have any official information. We need hundreds of thousands to bring her body back home for burial and also do the burial," she said. Eunice Ochieng's last conversation with family TUKO.co.ke understands that Eunice phoned her dad in August of 2022 and frantically asked for help, saying that someone was out to kill her. Michael Ong'alo, the deceased father, said her daughter's distressing call on that day left them in panic, and they did not hear from her ever again. The family tried contacting the recruitment agency that took their daughter to Saudi Arabia and asked it to follow up and ensure her safety.
