Aaron Cheruiyot Blasts Leaders Pushing One Man, One Shilling Debate: "Very Useless Conversation"

Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot
As the debate on one-man-one-vote-one-shilling continues to heat up in the country, Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot has dismissed the conversation as useless. Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot has dismissed the one-man, one-vote, one-shilling system as useless and untimely. He has asked leaders to wait for the Senate determination.  According to Cheruiyot, the conversation on one-man-one-vote-one-shilling could be more timely, as the revenue formula is determined by the Senate, which is mandated with the oversight job. Why Cheruiyot thinks the conversation is useless "In my opinion, that is a very useless conversation because there is a better time for the conversation. The Senate does the revenue formula; the current formula was done with the Senate four years ago," Cheruiyot stated. Speaking in Bomet on Sunday, he said the conversation should not be the centre focus, as the Senate had not failed in its oversight role. "This conversation will be held in the Senate; it is our work. Our work has defeated us. We will discuss the best formula to share resources nationwide so that no Kenyan is discriminated against. The Senate passed the current generational formula, and it took us 10 tough weeks of chaos to pass it," Cheruiyot explained. He urged leaders to stop causing panic among Kenyans through unnecessary public exchanges of words. He termed the exchanges hot air since the decision would be made in Parliament. "The ongoing exchange of words and side-taking is hot air; the final decision will be made in the Parliament. There is no need of fighting at all," he added. Raila backs one-man-one-shilling debate Recently, the debate on one-man-one-vote-one-shilling took a new twist after opposition leader Raila Odinga expressed support for the initiative. According to Raila, the formula was wrongly interpreted, is the best for the country, and will ensure equity in resource sharing.
