Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has assured Kenyans of their safety following the deployment of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) to assist the National Police Service in maintaining law and order.
Speaking at a fundraiser in Daba village, Tana River County, Duale said goons to infiltrated peaceful protests against the finance bill in various parts of the country leading to the destruction public property.
“The Kenya Defense Forces, working together with the National Police Service, are going to protect critical government infrastructure and installations such as the National Assembly, the Supreme Court, and the property of the people of Kenya from goons and criminals. These elements exist within the current regime and were present in the previous one,” Duale stated.
Duale who was accompanied by Marsabit Governor Mahmud Ali, Garsen MP Ali Wario, former Interior Chief Administrative Secretary Hussein Dado, and other leaders, added that those threatening to storm State House should abandon their plans as the government is now vigilant.
“We shall not allow criminal gangs like Mungiki to reassemble. Leaders who think they can destabilize President William Ruto’s government should wait until the next elections. We do not want Kenya to be like our unstable neighbors. We thank our young people for holding the government to account through peaceful protests,” he added.
At the same time, Garsen MP Ali Wario defended his vote for the finance bill 2024/2025 which has since been withdrawn, stating that his constituency would have benefitted from several national government projects included in the bill.
“Those we saw in the protests are not Gen Z but criminals organized by Rigathi to destabilize the government of Ruto. That is not the way to go,” Wario said.
His sentiments were echoed by Marsabit Governor Mahmud Ali echoed who warned political leaders against inciting the public to cause mayhem.
