Anti finance protests in Kenya |
On June 25, protesters against the Finance Bill 2024 stopped chanting and running battles with the police to honour one of them who lay dead outside parliament buildings. A man gesturing that he had come in peace. What killed the young man? The protests started in the morning and went all the way up to parliament buildings, where chaos erupted, and it all culminated in the death of eight protesters. One of the bodies that lay dead outside the parliament buildings turned out to be the brother of a plainclothes police officer who had been deployed to deal with demonstrators throughout the day. When the man saw his brother dead, he cried uncontrollably and rolled on the ground, because it was all too much for him to bear. Fellow protesters also surrounded the body and started singing the national anthem in honour of their fellow hero. Netizens reacted to the video shared on Twitter, saying the death of the young man was unfortunate.
