Eric Omondi, the self-proclaimed king of comedy in Africa, has been a trending figure in Kenya for various reasons, including activism, parody, and philanthropy.

Recently, the comedian faced the loss of his brother, the late Fred Omondi, who was also a comedian and club emcee.

In light of this, let’s take a closer look at some of the philanthropic activities Eric has been involved in.

Eric’s Ark

Around three months ago, Kenya experienced severe climate changes resulting in heavy rains and floods.

During this challenging time, Eric Omondi initiated a creative project to build an ark to aid flood victims.

Initially met with mixed reactions from netizens, the ark eventually proved successful in providing assistance to those affected by the floods.

Settling a Ksh 100 Debt

A video surfaced online showing a man being severely beaten in front of his child by a shopkeeper over a Ksh 100 debt.

Eric Omondi responded by setting up a mobile money transfer system to help the man start a shop business.

This initiative garnered contributions from netizens, resulting in the successful stocking of the man’s shop and rent being covered for several months.

Assisting Mukuru Flood Victims

Eric Omondi’s movement, Team Sisi Kwa Sisi, gained attention when he coordinated efforts to support displaced families from Mukuru Kwa Ruben affected by demolitions.

Through a collective contribution effort, they raised 237K in three hours, providing rent for three months, household supplies for two months, and startup capital for small businesses to ten of the most affected families.

Eric Omondi’s philanthropic endeavors continue to highlight his commitment to making a positive impact in his community during times of need.
