Thank me if I grant you an interview - Lady Jay Dee

Bongo singer Lady Jay Dee

Bongo singer Lady Jay Dee no longer grants interviews to the media over what she calls silly questions.

While addressing this position, the Siku Hazingandi singer told Wasafi Media on Tuesday, May 28 that she got fed up with what appears to be an agenda to drive her into gossip.

"Niliblock hiyo kitu. Mpaka mtu anifikie kufanya interview we mwenyewe ujishukuru "

(I blocked that thing until someone thanks themselves for getting to interview me)

She informed the media house that this position is what has led to respect from the media.

"There was a time until now when the media did not ask important questions. You might have gone there to talk about your issues only for them to start asking about another person's issues."

JayDee pointed out that she will remain elusive.

"I tell them I don't just do interviews. What if I don't have something to talk about? What will I come and talk about? It means I will be forced to talk about things that already passed. I blocked such questions." she argued.

She is dubbed the Queen of Bongo Flava for holding the most studio albums ever released.

She has won more than 30 awards: multiple Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music Awards (KTMA) for best female artist, an M-Net Award for best female artist of the year, and a BBC Radio Music Award for best song of the year for “Distance.”

Lady Jaydee holds the East African record for the fastest-selling album, selling nearly one million copies within a few days of the album’s release.

Currently, she has launched Wine Talk, a chat she holds online with friends on social matters.
