President William Ruto at Lenana school |
President William Ruto has pledged to personally sponsor the construction of new classrooms at Lenana Primary School in Nairobi.
Speaking when he presided over the opening parade at the school, Ruto acknowledged the challenges faced by children from the area in the search for quality education.
“I have offered to build those new classrooms, it is not the Ministry, I will construct those 24 classrooms,” he announced.
This, he said, will not only help accommodate more children but also go a long way in elevating the school to a centre of excellence through the presence of better facilities.
“We want to make this a true centre of excellence.”
He instructed the contractor to speed up the work and deliver the project within the next two months.
“Huyu contractor anaanza hiyo kazi leo ili baada ya miezi miwili nirudi hapa tena nifungue,” Ruto said.

To address the shortage of furniture at the school, the head of state pointed out that he would also provide funds for to purchase it.
He said he has already made available funds for the purpose, tasking area MP John Kiarie to deliver it.
Expressing his strong affection towards the school, Ruto revealed that he used to live around the area (Ngando ward) in his early days together with his life Rachel.
He stated that he was behind the starting of the school explaining that he supported it by donating Sh40 million through the ministry to top up another Sh20 million provided by area MP through the NGCDF.
“Nafanya hii kazi kwa sababu nilikuwa naishi hapa Ngando, hata yule Mama Rachel nilianza kuzungumza naye nikiwa hapa, kwa hivyo hapa Ngando ni mahali kubwa sana na siwezi sahau,” Ruto said.
(I am doing this work because I used to live here at Ngando, even my wife Rachel, I started talking to her while staying here. Ngando is a place I will not forget)
