The bodies of seven people who have drowned in various counties during the ongoing rains were found on Tuesday, while a search for two more is still ongoing.
In Nandi, police are still searching for the body of a 30-year-old man who drowned in a river at Kimondi forest in Simteret on Tuesday.
The man was herding in the company of other shepherds when the incident occurred.
In Uasin Gishu, a search for the body of a 10-year-old boy from Turbo who drowned in River Sosiani on Tuesday is still ongoing.
Police said the boy went swimming with friends when he was swept by raging waters. His friend was however rescued.
In Makueni, the body of a 32-year-old man was found at Kikuu River in Ithumba. Police said the body was identified as that of a victim earlier reported missing at Kalamba on Saturday.
It was taken to Kilome Funeral Home.
In Homa Bay, the body of a male teacher reported missing in Vide Rangwe by his wife on Saturday was found at River Awach.
The wife told the police that her husband left home on Friday and failed to return, only for his body to be found at the river on Monday.
The body was taken to Rachuonyo County Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
In Nandi, the body of a 17-year-old Grade 8 pupil who drowned on Tuesday afternoon at River Kipkaren was found in the evening.
Police said the boy slid into the river while bathing and was swept away.
His Body was taken to the Kimbilio mortuary awaiting autopsy.
In Trans Nzoia, locals retrieved the body of a 24-year-old male farmhand who drowned in a waterfall in Tisaini Farm.
It was taken to Kitale County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
Meanwhile, in Bomet, locals in Sotik found the body of a 17-year-old Form Three Student floating at Kipsonoi River.
His body was taken to the Kapkatet Sub-county Hospital mortuary.
Elsewhere in Narok, locals in Torokiat retrieved the body of a 42-year-old man who drowned while crossing the Michigilwet River on Tuesday evening.
Stil in Narok, police in Mulot found the decomposing body of a one-year-old boy who was swept away by floods on Sunday.
Floods have wreaked havoc in many parts of Kenya amid heavy rainfall which is predicted to go on into June.
More than 170 people have died so far, over 102 others injured and property of unquantified value destroyed.
At least 30,099 households have been displaced by the floods, per government figures released on Monday, affecting approximately 150,495 people.
