Former Gor Mahia FC and Harambee Stars Midfielder Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth has been arrested following the tragic death of a three-year-old girl in Lucky Summer. Confirming the incident, Kucky Summer assistant chief Peris Muthoni reported to the under OB17/22/04/2024 that a child had been killed and her body dumped. A report by Nation indicated the former star player was detained at the Pangani police station as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continue with investigations into the murder. According to the police’s preliminary investigations, the young girl might have been killed at a different location before the body was dumped outside their house. The girl’s mum was reportedly not at home between 1am and 4am when she returned and found her missing alongside a friend she had been living with. Why is Collins Okoth a suspect During his appearance before Senior Principal Magistrate Gregory Mutiso at the Makadara Law Court, Police Constable Gilbert Kiprotich of Starehe DCI revealed that Okoth lived in the same building as the deceased. Mutiso added that the ex-footballer became a subject of interest after a weapon suspected of breaking into the child’s mother’s home was discovered. Okoth was apparently planning to leave the house amid suspicions that he threw the object through his window. Kiprotich made the allegations as he sought orders to detain Okoth for 21 days pending investigations into an offence of murder.
