CNN International journalist Larry Madowo has shaded people who came at him for reporting about floods in Nairobi and accused him of always focusing on negative stories in Africa. Larry Madowo told off netizens claiming he was biased and said his work is to report what’s happening in Africa. Larry Madowo on reporting African stories Madowo reminded them of a post he made in June 2023, where he said his job is to cover accurately and not just positively. In the post, he shared his CNN profile and a quote many called him out for. His quote read: “We are more than just diseases, drought and war. We have accomplishments, art, beauty, joy and innovation. My reporting should reflect that.” However, this is not the first time Madowo has found himself a loggerhead with people on social media. He recently clashed with the Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen after highlighting the plight of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Madowo also reminded Africans that he had warned them about his reporting and vowed to continue reporting what was happening in the region. See his post below: Netizens react to Madowo’s clapback Here are some of the comments from social media users: @ItsKyuleNgao said: “Stop washing our dirty linen in pubic. That’s utter unpatriotism.” @its_fanuel said: “Go, Larry, go. Continue talking the truth to power! They won’t like it, but they have to face it. Publicly. Journalistic code of ethics.” @Danny_Gonah said: “This one is in order, I mean why should we live a lie, if we are suffering, we are suffering, ama namna gani?” @mwendia_jnr said: “Be objective then. You have been subjective in the recent past.” @AkhusamaGuylord said: “You’re becoming petty.” @Haaland_sholla said: “I fully support you. The purpose of journalism is to share things as they are. If anyone feels the truth hurts, then let them fix it or themselves.” @eSca_ndal said: “But floods hazikuwa slums tu mkuu, we had various luxurious estates flooded, did you cover any?”
