Melody told TUKO.co.ke that she and Mr Buhere first crossed paths in 2010 when she was a student pursuing her Mass Media course. Mr Buhere, the drama patron at Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), was not only her lecturer but also played a pivotal role in shaping her artistic skills. One of the highlights was a cultural dance performance by the Power House, a group mentored by the passionate lecturer. “He ejected me from the cultural dance troupe because I did not know how to dance Luhyia songs and moved me to theatre where I played as the wife to Abel Mutua,” she recalled. Melody waxed lyrical about Mr Buhere’s patience and guidance, which inspired her to push herself further and find her footing in the art form. Their paths diverged after the radio queen graduated, but fate had other plans as they recently found themselves sharing the stage again, this time as equals. Reflecting on her journey, Melody praised Mr Buhere’s kindness and professionalism, describing him as a lecturer worth emulating. “Sisters, how you carry yourself in your studies and how you relate with your teachers will determine how you sit with them when you meet them later on in life,” she advised. The Jambo Kenya presenter also encouraged them to strive for excellence, which would pave the way for future collaborations and opportunities.
