Four suspects accused of murder after dousing woman with acid in court

Four people accused of murdering a woman by dousing her with acid at Kenyatta road along the Thika Superhighway two months ago will remain in police custody for two more weeks pending determination on their release on bail application.

Edwin Mutugu Wanjiru, Eliud Nganga Muiruri, Simon Mbua Wanjiku and Anne Wanjiru are accused of pouring concentrated acid on Dorothy Wambui Kiaraho, 66, on February 15, 2024.

According to the DCI report, the suspects who were in a motor vehicle poured the acid on the deceased’s face, chest and abdomen through an open driver’s window at the Kenyatta Road underpass at around 2.30 am and then fled.

The deceased sustained serious burns and was rushed to hospital where she succumbed on April 9.

The suspects were arrested on April 15, and booked at the Juja Police Station.

The DCI requested more time to be able to complete investigations and also to arrest more suspects, a request which Thika Senior Resident Magistrate Fredrick Koome granted.

The matter will be mentioned on April 30, 2024.
