Who is the new EAC Secretary General nominee Veronica Mueni Nduva

President William Ruto on Monday nominated Veronica Mueni Nduva for appointment as the new Secretary General of the East African Community by the Summit of the Heads of States.

President Ruto named Nduva as a replacement for Caroline Mwende Mueke, who had been nominated for the post in March.

Cabinet Secretary for EAC Peninah Malonza revealed the changes through a letter addressed to Minister for EAC Affairs Chairperson Deng Alor Kuol.

But who is the new EAC SG nominee Nduva?

Nduva is the current Principal Secretary for the State Department for Performance and Delivery Management at the Ministry of Public Service.

She was assigned to the position following the reorganisation and reconstitution of Ministries/Departments by President Ruto in October 2023.

Formerly the Principal Secretary State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action, Nduva is an accomplished governance expert and public sector professional.

She has over two decades of career experience across a broad array of sectors.

According to her profile at the Ministry of Performance and Delivery Management, she has worked with the East African Community, Kenyan civil society and the United States government.

Nduva has also written a number of publications on matters of gender, current affairs and global issues.

In her publications, she has highlighted her knowledge on global topical issues and a clear understanding of the public sector and operations, as well as inter-agency collaborations.

Over her career life, she has received a number of awards and recognition for exemplary work in the governance from both local and international institutions.

Away from the office mentorship, governance training and being outdoors are her major interests.

Nduva holds a Master’s degree in Communication and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Nairobi.
