Which businesses are owned by Gor Semelang’o? 1. Petrokenya Oil Company The businessman is one of the investors in the oil marketing business through Petrokenya Oil Company Limited. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is the founder and managing director of the oil firm. “I am in the petroleum business. It’s very tough but lucrative,” he revealed. Petrokenya is an exporter, importer, and wholesaler of petroleum products and provides liquid logistics services in the East African region. It also offers transport services to oil marketing companies in the region. Who Owns Kenya reported that Semelang’o sold 45% of his shares in the company in 2020 to a United Arab Emirates firm in a deal worth KSh 4.5 billion, leaving him with an 8% stake.  2. Real estate Semelang’o disclosed that he had invested in real estate during an interview with Dr King’ori. He explained that the returns on investments in the sector were 10% monthly on average, meaning that if you spent KSh 10 million, you would earn KSh 100,000. He recalled how he failed to sell the business to Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp after he fumbled when pitching it to the American investor. “Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp wanted an entry into the Kenyan market, and they wanted to buy my tabloid newspaper. I prepared for a month and was invited to New York to meet Murdoch. I had ten minutes to present my case. I fumbled all through. The deal did not go through,” he disclosed.  4.
