William Ruto’s Nominee for Ambassador Position in Ghana Rejects Job

President William Ruto’s nominee for ambassador position in Ghana, Vincent Kemosi, has rejected the position. President William Ruto (left) and former MP Vincent Kemosi (Right). Kemosi was appointed Kenya’s ambassador to Ghana but turned down the offer.  Kemosi declined his appointment, citing issues related to his family, according to a statement presented by the chairperson of Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee. “I wish to announce that I won’t appear before the committee at the very specified time for the approval here. This has been occasioned by my personal and very compelling matters which after careful consideration will not allow me to take up the position of the High Commissioner to Ghana as communicated by his excellency the president,” he said. Mogaka’s appointment by Ruto Kemosi who also served as former West Mugirango MP was appointed on March 9. This move was meant to strengthen diplomatic ties between Kenya and Ghana. Kemosi was among the people appointed that saw various diplomats replaced. He was also appointed in the capacity of the chief administrative secretary (CAS) in the Trade and Investment Ministry. However, a High Court ruling deemed the position null and void nullifying the appointment of 50 CAS unconstitutional. Ambassadorial nominee Joash Maangi’s wealth Apart from Kemosi, former Kisii deputy governor, Joash Maangi, was another politician from Abagusii region picked for an ambassadorial posisition. Maangi appeared for vetting before the National Assembly Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee on April 4 to explain his suitability to represent Kenya in Uganda. The parliamentary committee, however, linked the nominee to graft after receiving letter from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission concerning graft allegations.  The politician stunned the MPs after he said he made KSh 2 billion in 2023 and revealed that he has a net worth of KSh 690 million stemming from several properties
