Liverpool will go back to the top of the table if they win today – but if they fail to win it could be out of their hands.

Manchester United meanwhile remain 12 points off fourth and nine points behind fifth, which is probably going to be a Champions League spot next season.

If United lose by three goals they will drop behind West Ham into seventh.

Opta says Liverpool remain favourites to win the title – although their chances were cut from 46.3% to 38.9% without playing after their two rivals won.

City has a 34.7  per cent chance with 26.4 per cent for leaders Arsenal.

Manchester United make two changes to the side that lost 4-3 to Chelsea deep into stoppage time.

Teenager Willy Kambwala makes just his second league start for the Red Devils, coming in for the injured Raphael Varane. Jonny Evans, who replaced Varane in that game, is also injured.

Marcus Rashford is preferred to Antony.

Full-backs Harry Amass, 17 and Habeeb Ogunneye, 18, are the only two defenders on the United bench.

As for Liverpool, they make three changes to the team that beat Sheffield United 3-1 on Thursday night.

Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate and Ryan Gravenberch drop to the bench.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is hoping to win his second Premier League title before leaving the Reds at the end of the season.

This will be his last match against Manchester United.

Asked if his side will need to be “perfect” to win their first title since 2019-20, Klopp said: “That’s how it is in the Premier League.

“United are a top side playing at home, we all know that. We have to find a way to cause United problems and they will try the same. We had better play a very good football game if we want something,” Klopp said.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says his players will be “angry” today and called on them to “bring big games over the line”.

United conceded twice in stoppage time for a dramatic 4-3 loss to Chelsea on Thursday, five days after letting in a 99th-minute equaliser at Brentford.

“We have to step up and make better decisions,” said Ten Hag.

“We can play to a very high standard. We can compete with the best and beat the best in the Premier League. When you can do that, you can also do it across Europe.
